- an exclusive limited edition Ford GT
Roush is a name that has become synonymous with the Ford GT. To mark the end of production of these fabulous important cars, Roush have developed a very limited edition series of cars called 600RE. Based upon the Ford GT Supercar, this exclusive limited edition boasts a number of features including an engine upgrade - raising power and torque and providing the Roush 600RE with even greater levels of acceleration and performance. The 600RE has also enjoyed the Roush styling treatment both inside and out and comes complete with additional features to enhance its unique appearance.
The vehicle is designed and assembled at the Roush Technical Centre, based in Brentwood, Essex; which is also the only official Ford GT service centre in the UK. The 600RE is being marketed solely through Avro Motor Cars in Surrey.
Roush Europe's Marketing Manager James Bassett says:
"The Roush 600RE builds upon the success we achieved from the Roush 420RE Mustang. We have again, taken a winning formula and enhanced those areas with features which our customers have asked for. The Roush 600RE is a truly exclusive edition and takes the fantastic Ford GT forward - even further"...
The new Roush 600RE features include:
* Upgraded Supercharger Pulley System
* Unique Vehicle Numbering And Identity Plaques
* Unique Keyed Light Pack
* Tubi Exhaust System
* Tinted Glass
* Transmission Oil Breather System
* Colour Keyed Hoses
* Black Powder Coated Wheels
* (Optional) 4-Point Harness Pack
Production of the 600RE is limited to only 10 Vehicles and demand is expected to quickly exceed supply. The 600RE is only available from "Avro Motor Cars" based at the historic Brooklands site in Surrey.
The official stock of 101 Ford GTs that left America for Europe has sold out, but there’s still new models available Stateside and legendary tuning firm Roush is now exporting them to the Britain.
Just ten cars are available, now badged as the GT 600RE. The first bit of the name is the power – up from 550 bhp on the standard GT – while the letters stand for Roush Europe.
Other changes a new exhaust system, tinted glass, color-keyed hoses under the hood, and black powder-coated wheels. Unique identity plaques are also available. The sprint to 60 mph is completed in 3.4 seconds and top speed is restricted to 205 mph.
The 600RE costs roughly $300,000, a good $40,000 more than the standard car was, and two have already found homes. “We’ve taken a winning formula and enhanced those areas with features which our customers have asked for,” said a Roush spokesman.
The company is synonymous with the GT. It developed the car’s powertrain, and also converted all the Europe-bound models to meet local legislation. Roush also has a history of creating special-edition Fords, and was the brains behind the 420RE version of the Mustang.

And then there was the 720BHP AVRO FORD GT
Brooklands-based Avro Motor Cars has joined forces with Roush Technologies to create a strictly limited edition of the Ford GT called the Avro 720 Mirage.
Limited to just 10 cars this special edition GT is finished in metallic orange and has 720bhp.
The car is restricted to 220mph and has features such as a deleted rear bumper to save weight.
Central to the increased power is a larger – and polished – Whipple supercharger. The induction side of the engine also includes an Accufab throttle body and inlet sleeve. An Accufab X pipe exhaust system with ceramic-coated tips is also fitted. Other engine equipment includes a Mafia MAF sensor adaptor and a transmission breather catch tank.
The front and rear track is 5mm wider than the standard car.
The front brakes use AP Racing 6-pot front callipers with Stillen drilled and slotted rotors – and similar rotors are used also at the rear.
The suspension has been lowered by 25mm – and uprated to include KW’s Variant 3 fully adjustable coil-over system.
Avro Managing Director, Andy McGrath said: ‘When we created the highly successful Roush 600RE edition, we recognised the potential in the car to go a step further.
‘The Ford GT is already a rare and sought after motorcar and simply identifying and locating more available untitled vehicles has been a significant challenge for us.
‘The 720 Mirage is available exclusively from Avro – and once these cars are completed, we believe there will be no more.
