    trufiber gts-3 hood

SmokinStangs - Mustang Forum! The home of the SmokinStangs Laconia - Mustang Rally
Anyone have an opinion on this hood from trufiber. I really like the styling and function.

If you have an experience with this hood let me know? Fit? Quality? Clearance issues? How does the ram air line up with aftermarket CAI?

I like it! Very aggressive looking versus the stock hood.

Sorry. It doesn't do much for me. I like cleaner lines rather than lots of cut-outs and bulges. But it's your car and you should make it what you like to enjoy it most.

I like the cervini's "california" style one better. (looks exactly like the concept hood). My sister actually has it on her car Great fit and quality, AND it came already painted!

The hood above looks similar to Joey's

I was thinking the same thing. Somehow it looks different on Joey's car, though. You don't really notice all those louvres. Maybe because his car is white. For some reason it just looks better on Joey's car.

I sent Joey a PM asking him if his is a trufiber and what model. I don't remember if his had the louvers or not? Asked him a lot of questions about fit, strut tower cover/strut clearance etc. I don't know if he has the ram
air over the CAI either? I always liked his hood and not trying to copy him but I really liked this one when I saw it on trufiber's website. Want to hear from him and see if it is same brand. There's a few different models with subtle differences. If I don't hear from him in here I'll see his car anyway at Mel's in may!

    I agree. Not liking it.

My tastes have changes. Now all these super aggressive hoods with scoops in them just don't look appealing at all to me anymore

I understand everyone has their own tastes. That's what make cruise night so interesting, seeing how everyone puts their own ideas into their cars. I do like the styling of this hood very much. I'm seriously considering ordering it this spring. Just want to find out as much info. on it before I do. Joey confirmed this is same model hood on his car. I've been asking him all kinds of questions to see what issues he may have had with installing his. If I do install this hood I realize some people will like it and some won't. That's true with many of the mods I've done with my car already. As with any mod, I do it because I really like it and if others like what I've done too well that's a bonus. I've seen lot's of cars with many performance and appearance mods I liked and some I thought didn't fit my tastes at all but as I look at more and more cars it's great they're all different, whether they're stock or heavily modded. If I do get this hood, which is getting closer to happening, I'm considering painting black racing stripes and black hood vents and installing the eleanor style grille in the photo below (minus the pony emblem, which I don't like, on the grille). Here's a pic of the grille and racing stripes with stock hood and my color car. Thanks for the input everyone. I appreciate it. See you in a few weeks at Mel's! Ill be the guy taking a closer look at Joey's hood!

I like it... An aggressive hood for an aggressive looking car, IMHO. However, if it were my car, and it's not, I would only do the stripes and not the hood vents. To me it would be too busy on the hood. And why would you want that, when they're only gonna be looking at the back..LOL
BTW, the pic isn't working, or at least not for me.

Working now... IMHO, I don't like the skinny stripes. Wider is better I think. Again, just my opinion, what do I know?

I want the stripes to line up with the fog lights with equal distance on each side of the light so that the lights are centered within the stripe. Not sure right now how wide that will be or how wide the gap will be. Will have to see once the grille is in place how that will work out. But I agree I don't want the stripes to skinny either. Saw a picture of the eleanor grille I'm getting with stripes that were just way to wide and didn't like now they contrased with the stripes. Looking for something in between.

Hey I forgot I had a picture of Joey's car from a cruise night taken last summer. He does have the hood vents on his car too! He has the GTS-3 trufiber hood I'm looking at. Have to take a close look at how he did his hood latch too, especially where his is mounted under the hood. I'm not trying to copy his car just want to see how everything fits on his.
