    Rear tire and Wheel size

SmokinStangs - Mustang Forum! The home of the SmokinStangs Laconia - Mustang Rally
looking to pick up a set of drag wheel tires
just wondering if anyone had any incite into tire size.

    BBK springs ~ -1"
Currently run 255 50 16 falcon tires in the rear

Thinking of going Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial Tire P255/60R15 (27'' x 10.5'' - 15'')
    on Jegs Sport Drag 15 x 8''

My only concern is I would like to go as big as possible without tire rub issues without the need to tub the wheel wells.
Fender inners are already aggressively rolled to make as much space as possible.

anyone with a good size combination to try or am I pretty much there?

A 255/60R15 should be plenty for the car. Going with a large diameter will basically be ungearing your car slightly. The 15" tire will provide plenty of sidewall.

Why get an 8" rim when you can fit a 10" rim with the fender lips rolled? I stuffed a huge set of MT 325's on the back of my Stang and don't have any rub. If you want to ever run any of the specific drag radial clases, maximum tire size is 275. I sure as hell wouldn't go less than 275.

With MT 325's you can say buh bye to your axles though haha.

Not mine....but you may just snap your $600 Mark Williams aluminum driveshaft in half they hook so damn good! lol

Axle upgrades are fairly cheap and easy. Which reminds me, I have a mint set of 31 spline Moser's I have to get on Ebay still!

    haha I didn't mean yours.

The stock 28 splines won't last long on an MT like that.

i run 26 11.5 x16 et streets but running 31 splin diff and axles

27 is going to be to tall for a fox

the biggest i seen without rubbing on a fox is 29540r17 possible 315 but u got to run a 10.5 wide wheel and get the right back spacing and roll the fender

well i should be good with the axles, got 31 splines in there... that leaves only the 4 lug problem... may have to go for the 275s seems like the best of both worlds.
    thanks all
