SmokinStangs - Mustang Forum! The home of the SmokinStangs Laconia - Mustang Rally
Is it true my MAC shorty headers from my 90 GT wont fit my 94 GT? If not im looking to trade/sell my headers for a pair that fit.
    Alex

i have a 94 GT blk, 5 Spd, Parts going in it are.........Trick flow intake upper and lower.....tfs-1 cam, underdrive pulleys, bbk cold air intake, 373, frpptimimg chain set double roller, MAC Long Tube Headers, flow master exhaust,

Your 90 headers will fit 86-93. 94-95 require different headers.

Skip the shorty's altogether. Go with longtubes. Flow much better. Will give you gains under the curve.

Do you still have your smog tube/EGR?

They will fit just fine if you're not running the smog stuff. The only difference between FOX headers and 94-95 headers is the 94-5 headers have a bung on the pass side header for where the smog tube fits into.

On a stock engine? Not much. LT's are great for increasing torque though...which is the benefit of them. Def go LT's over shorties...although the install is a huge PITA.

However shorty header do nothing really. You already have shorty headers stock...so aftermarket ones don't do much at all.

Mike, I've been told that larger shorties do make a difference if you also have a larger exhaust. (And also larger intake to match, of course.) I have 2.5" H and 2.5" cat-back, so I did that in tandem with 1-5/8" headers. Since I did the H and the headers at the same time, it's hard to know what each did individually.

And then, of course, there's the question of whether equal length headers actually make any real difference. Personally, I read both sides if that issue, didn't come away convinced one way or the other, but decided that equals would at least not make anything worse (except access to the #4 plug!) so I got equals.
