Toying around with the idea of getting rid of the Vortech 308 Twisted Wedge in my Fox now and moving up to a Naturally Aspirated 427.
I have seen some builds with AFR 205s or big daddy Trick Flow Heads, monster cam, 11:1 compression put out 450-500rwhp.
That would put me about 100 horse down from my ultimate power goal, BUT alot less worry when staying unboosted...fear of blown head gaskets, detonation etc etc.

My original plan is to hammer my current setup until it gives up the ghost...then:
Boss Block 331
Send my Heads to Fox Lake for Stage 2 Port
Anderson B-41HR or B-451 Cam
S Trim pushing 12lbs of boost
Abaco Digital MAF with 60s
Should put me easily in the 550-to 600rwhp range..

I would think that the boosted set up would be much friendlier on the street. As long as the motor is built for the boost, you should be fine.
Both setups have pros and cons. I guess I need to figure out what the hell I want to do with this car eventually. My fear is I will only hear the whine of me complaining if I give up my Blower whine...![]()

all in all mark if it were me( and I may just go down this road again with another fox) I will be doing the 67 mm turbo attatched to a 331. The amount of boost requierd to achieve the 600 rw range is so little it would blow your mind. The other side of the coin of running a naturaly asperated engine I would go with the stroked 351 to a 408 solid lifter set up with a set of brodex/afr's heads.

Turbos are often a science project....trust me. I hate seeing the words "easy" and "turbo" in the same sentence. I don't know how many of you went to the IHRA Nationals, but if you did, you'd know there was only one high HP car running a turbo setup. It's not because they can't make power, but they often are extremely hard to tame and become consistent at a high HP level. Obviously the street is a different story and turbos have come along way in efficeincy since I started down that path, but they still have drawbacks. They can be brutal on drivetrains, the bigger you go the more lag you will experience and they are a more expensive and less reliable road to travel as well. Now with that said, if you can get it right, they are simply BADASS!
