Hey guys I know I'm new here, but hoping you can maybe help me out... Got the oil changed today and now under acceleration mostly she smokes... ALOT!! i also have noticed oil on the firewall (fresh oil) I'm military and i do have mechanical experience, just not much time... did i blow a head gasket/intake/ rear main seal? the place i got the oil changed denies any responsibility.. but before they touched the car, it didnt smoke... Thanks in advance..
Check the simple things first, like is the oil cap and filter still on it??
Make sure they only put in the recommended amount they could have over filled it
1966 Shelby Cobra
Ford crate 460 motor - Dyno'd at 550 HP
I dont have a conventional cap on it... I have a ford motorsport filter breather cap that is soaked in oil.... (dripping out of the filter onto the headers... and it also smokes from there... i understand slight smoking is normal... but theres alot...
Did you leave the car, or wait for it? I would be suspicious that someone took it out for a joyride and blew a gasket, red lined it and bent a valve or something. Hope not!!!

where exactly is the smoke coming from...... threw the exhaust or out the engine bay........ if its out the engine bay start at the simple spots, have someone tach the motor up a bit while you look at it and look for any leaks or WHERE the smoke is coming from, intake gasket of valve cover gasket, or even from the dipstick, i had my 94 shooting oil out the dipstick due to to much blow by and poor ventilation system..... with a new ventilation system cleared up the issue.....

It's probably overfull, there's no reason the breather would be coated in it otherwise.

thats what it was. although they deny it, they drained and refilled today and magically no more smoke. Now off to deal with their corporate office to get the old girl cleaned up and inspected for damaged seals. Good thing i took Alot of pictures of the dipstick so i have before and after pics... wondering if i should post the name of this wonderful company so others can avoid this location/store.
