I would say you are spot on. I spent months agonizing over those two ratios. I finally decided to go with 3.73, and now I wish I had decided on 3.55, as I would like a bit more mpg. If I had gone with 3.55 would I have wished for 3.73 and just a bit more giddy-up? Probably...![]()

I always had 3.73's in 5.0's.
Believe it or not the difference from 3.55 to 3.73 is very minimal.
Now what you should try is 4.30's!!![]()
If its a 5 speed then 3.55. If its an automatic then 3.73.

if you know your current gear ratios, you can figure your new rpm at "x" speed using this calculator:

I used it several years ago when I was trying to decide on what gear for my 02 GT, Ended up going with 3.90....

I love the 3:55's with the 5 spd.. seems to be a great all around gear in my opinion.

I had the 2:73's and I toy'd on the motion of installing the 3:55's but I wanted a little more umpth. Partially wished I went with the 3:55's. They would be a better highway gear for you. Again it comes down to personal preference and what performance you are looking for....
Id like to change my gears in the future and I will be going with 3.55s in mine. 5.0 with 5 speed. I want to be able to go on long cruises without sacrificing gas mileage.

FWIW, my car came with 2.08s. Whichever you choose, it's gonna feel like you added 4 more cylinders under the hood!
