    Max Rear Tire Size Question

SmokinStangs - Mustang Forum! The home of the SmokinStangs Laconia - Mustang Rally
Been looking at some new sneakers for the Saleen, I need to change them first thing this spring for sure.. Currently running Nitto 555 Extremes 285/35ZR-18 97W B on the rears and wondering what is the max size I can actually run on the rears without running into any issues.. Would a 305 work without any issues ?

I have 10" wheels so the 305 will fit just wondering more about clearance issues.

315's should fit with no problem
I had 315 Sumitomo's on my 94 GT and had no issues at all.

    B. Get new lug bolts and use some spacers and go even bigger. 335's. Roll ur fenders and man will you have a unique saleen.

Just kidding. But Ed is correct. you shouldn't have any issues with 305's or 315's.

Hey Guys, thanks for the input..

Thinking ; 305/35-18 NITTO NT555R II or 305/35-18 NITTO NT 555R Drag Radial

Leaning more to the NT555R II for overall performance and durability. I dont run it all that often at the track and I prefer not to have to get new tires again in next 2 or 3 seasons.. Though the DR's are a bit cheaper ..

I should hook a little better either way !!

If you are going to get nitto's....get 315's. It's a known fact they run more narrow than any other manufacturer.

Granted, there is no real gain with a 315 vs a 305.....but it looks cooler

With amount of driving you do, stay way from the DR's....you won't be happy

It appears the only 315's for Nitto's I can find are Drag Radials and I agree with you Ian, with the amount of driving I do it wouldn't be very wise... Not sure what other brand of tires I would feel comfortable with overall not excluding $$$$... I know some of the other brands outside of Nitto can get to be pretty pricey !

I forget, i think its the NT05's? supposed to be a good middle of the road sports tire that has good wet/dry traction. I believe Bruce runs them

Yes, I do and I love them. Mark also runs them and had good things to say about them a while ago. They are supposed to be a better handling tire than the 555 especially in wet conditions according to the reviews. I never ran 555s, so I can't say, but they do work well in all situations I've driven them in so far (except ice/snow where they suck badly like all other performance tires).

What's the word on BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW NT Tires, looking at a reasonably prices set of 295/35R18 and wondering if anyone is running them and what their thoughts are..
