    Renamed it mule-stang

SmokinStangs - Mustang Forum! The home of the SmokinStangs Laconia - Mustang Rally
(iam sorry i am so long winded)ive come to the conclusion this car is as stubborn as a mule so hence forth it will be known as the mulestang.sorry if this offends some stang owners.the latest kick in the head from such car is on the way home last weekend it decides to piss fuel out of the feed line from the tank ,filling the car with fumes and at the same time it started run like crap.so i was able to limp home the last few miles then it died .during the week i purchased used lines from menards in chester n.h. .on friday we flatbedded to the shop (thanks AAA PLUS).were we proceded to pump of the full tank of fuel drop the tank and replace the lines took no more than an hour .now with good lines we started the car which i forgot to mention that it was driven from the parking lot into the shop with no problems .the car fired up then starts choking on fuel so rich that within 30 seconds we shut it off and went outside to breath while the roof fan works on clearing the air. we went over everything we did 5 times and still not running we had good fuel press good spark tps voltage ok thyen there was the mass air flow down in the fender mounted to the aderson power pipe .i unplugged the harness extension/converter in the engine comp.car ran not good but ran.so i remove the $350.00 maf and checked it out was clean but harness ext/converter was not coming off the maf.in the mean time i recieved a call from brigham and womens hospital were i had a byopsy done for cancer 2 weeks prior .they proceeded to tell me they found NO Cancer. Now i feel like a huge weight has been lifted off me .we celebrated with some beers and left the mule to sleep for the night with the battery disconnected .came in around 6.45 on saturday morning and reconnected the battery .started the car and she ran ok for about 1.00 minute the went extreemly rich again . back in the air it went then we pried a little on the glued plug on the maf and it came off .cleaned 2 green terminals reassembled and now she runs fine .now we are going to buy a new harness and send the maf back to the people who built it to check it out .now car is sidelined i think ill have a beer or 2 or 3 .and remember this is only one of the many things this mule-stang has done to me.also i would like to thank only90s for the help up at laconia and everyone else toowell its good to vent every once and a while

The car probs are nothing compared to Cancer, so that is great news for you...Congrats.

It took me about two years to get my Fox where it was reliable and ran consistent. It is just the nature of these beasts I think we go to the extreme and change so many things.

The first month I had mine running in early 2007-I could not drive it more than 2 miles before it would piss oil out the breathers all over the place. I finally came up with a crankcase evac system with breathers on each valve cover and my PCV through an oil sep that allowed me to drive the dam thing. Then the COmetic Head MLS Gaskets were leaking anti freeze so I had to retorque the dam things like two times before they sealed up.

I also had problems with bad rocker arms, blowing out intake gaskets and then a brand new Ford Racing Lifter-collapsed...so my intake was on and off 3 times in two years and I had to adjust my rockers like 5 times in two years, before I realized they were garbage.

It runs real decent now and is reliable and has been for the last 2.5 years. Of course now I am ready to build something else, but I dont have the funds, thanks to my wife and her T Top Project..!!!!

Keep at it and you will get it right....

Also forget that I had my SCT Chip mailed to one of these companies that claim they have the best mail order tunes....The car would never idle or run right the first month I had it running...kept stalling at odd times etc. Messed with the MAF, TPS, fuel pressure etc for hours on end and was told by "experts" the maf is junk because it is a C&L....

I finally had Pete at Performance Dyno tune it and he claimed the tune on the chip was all screwed up and the MAF was actually one of the most accurate he has ever seen---ran perfect after he tuned it.

I feel both of you guys pain, I bought my car early spring and it has a work in progress since then. The motor has been out, every sensor on it changed at least once, and it still isnt done. It has only made it to one cruise night all year, hopefully this weekend it will be all done. Stage 2 meth injection, inline fuel pump, and a tune, then dynoed and put away till next spring. Keep truckin we will eventually figure these foxbodies out.

Pro-M was bought by Granatelli Motorsports. They are no longer willing to reprogram MAFs. The whole reason I originally bought Pro-M was to be able to get it reprogrammed. They will get no more business from me!
