Ran My Fox at Ford Fest

SmokinStangs - Mustang Forum! The home of the SmokinStangs Laconia - Mustang Rally

So for the first time since I put my Fox together in 2007 I ran it. I used to race all the time when I was younger, but never really cared to race this Fox until recently.

So anyway..I ran it in the True Street Class today and the best I could do was my last run which was the third hot lap run after the 20 mile cruise:

    13.04 at 115.68 mph with a 2.2 60

I had two problems which I need to correct next time I run:

-Ditch the Street Tires for DRs--I had to bog /ease it out of 1st and could not really even get into the boost until 3rd or I would get wheel spin
-Was bouncing off my 6k Rev Limiter about 75-100 feet before the traps so I need to switch my MSD pill for at least a 6200

    Slip

It was cool being on the track for the first time in 17 years. I had hoped for mid 12s on my street tires and around 120mph, but even with the track prepped I just cant get into the boost/power until 3rd gear. In cooler conditions and raising my rev limiter I think I can see close to 120, but the mid 12 wont happen unless I grab some Drag Radials.

If anyone has or sees 2 chrome 95 Cobra R wheels like I have now let me know, as I want a set to throw some DRs on for when I decide to run it. Thanks

I think Bob's son grabbed a video or two of my runs...eventually we can find one and post it up.

    Hi Mark,
Honestly for a street car that is a very good MPH. You ran over 28.59 from half track to the finish.....impressive and you went 1.959 secs from the 1000ft mark to the finish. On a blown application, anything under 2.0 secs is fast..... period!

Drag radials will help with 60ft and final ET's but your MPH won't change much. Actually you may see it go down a bit. Just drop down one pulley size and watch your MPH jump up to 117-118mph.

On another note, it was nice to see you and Bob again.

Thanks for the kind words Plummer-always a pleasure to see you and Hear that Beast of a car.

I only think I can find a few more mph with raising my rev limiter another 200 rpms, because I was bouncing off it before the traps. Plus yesterday was hot and humid so maybe with some nice cool fall air I will be putting a few more ponies to the rear wheels and can find a few more mph on the top end-but if not I will still enjoy the hell out of driving it on the street...

Yeah, I know what you mean, Mark. I love the NT-05s on the street, but they are definitely NOT a great tire for NED. I have considerably less power than you and I have no trouble at all spinning through the first three gears at the track.

i saw your car very clean and nice!! i also ran true street had a crap run of it though my car fell on its face all three runs when i shifted into third. no idea why but it was still fun either way even if i got stuck in the back half of the group on the cruise and went the wrong way back by an exit lol. ran 14.2 at 102 three runs in the morning then 15.7 average the runs that mattered
