Well if Friday night's (08/12/11) Test & Tune Session at NED - New England Dragway was any indication as to how this weekends 2011 - TASCA / UPR Ford Fest event is going to go.....I say it's going to be a hit, as NED was extremely busy with Mustangs and Ford Powered vehicles abound!

The weather was gorgeous, and the forecast is calling for another gorgeous day Saturday. There was some potentially undesirable weather forcasted for Sunday.....but as of recent, that has been changed.....as the forecast now looks to be clear.
SmokinStangs.com was speaking to the boss man, and heard that ESPN will be on-hand for Saturday...which is very cool news!!
We are expecting the track to be well prepped for the days events.
There were many familiar faces on hand, to include some of the areas heavy hitters.....and of course SmokinStangs.com. We spied TASCA (of course & respectfully) along with their CJ - Cobra Jet, Dennis MacPherson of DMC Racing, Travis Johnson of Performance Auto & Dyno, and Mike Deztell of Dez Racing, to name a few and in no particular order. With company like this on-hand we can expect to see some exciting passes over the weekend, dipping right down into the 9's, 8's, and perhaps even 7's.

There will be some passes performed in preperation for x275, so don't be alarmed if you see cars shut down early throughout the day on Saturday.

Light turned to dark, as drag racing continued on.....but ultimately final passes were made & lanes were closed up for the evening.

Traditionally, this time of the year in New England it is pretty toasty out, and along with that comes intense direct sun. This year we got ourselves a real treat, as the weather was just incredible. Sun was shining, but not blazing...temps were extremely comfortable, with an ever so gentle cool breeze in the air.
With a down economy, it was just a perfect way to take some time for ones self and take a break from the grind of every day activities. Regardless of your participation level, let it be drag racing, spectating, participating in the car show, etc....it all just felt good, and made for a great weekend. New England Dragway along with TASCA, and UPR served us up another great event this year. Sure there was room for more participants, but all things considered a very, very good turn-out.

SmokinStangs spoke with UPR and discussed this weekends event a bit. It was great to hear Brian say that he really enjoys coming to NED & the New England area.

Ford is well and alive here in New England with many a proud owners, as it really did show. SmokinStangs.com was well represented here this weekend, and it was great to see so many members.

Had a great time, met a few Smokinstangers as well this weekend
Okay, I'll let the cat out of the bag. Fun Ford will be returning to Epping, NH. in 1-2 years. It may or may not be a full weekend event (no decision as of yet).

How? Super Chevy bought the FFW rights and they don't run at Epping. Thought they had already announced FFW would only run where Super Chevy does? Either way, kudos to UPR and Tasca for trying to step in and keep at least one Ford event going, even though they destroyed True Street this year.
As we mentioned on our initial post, ESPN was going to be on-hand for Saturday's activities.
Sure enough....they were there running video. ESPN spent some time with Bob Tasca (Pro Funny car driver), who was there for the days events.
Additionally ESPN captured a bunch of the action, to include much of the True Street.
In the photo above Bob Tasca is seated in a new TASCA Edition 5.0.
Check out this cool & informative video of Bob in his other ride: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhrSW_F2hZs
Be sure to keep your eyes open either the week before or the week of Labor Day weekend for the actual broadcast!!![]()

How????I know nothing about Super Chevy buying the rights to FFW. What I do know is that FFW is looking to expand to 10-12 shows next year and we (Car show Judges) were contacted about judging the car show at Epping. Ricky Finnamore is the main guy for ISCA World of Wheels here in Boston and a long-time Super Chevy judge and right now they are in discusion about another Ford event at Epping. Thats basically all I know at the moment.

Participants embarked (SmokinStangs.com included) on a 20-Mile cruise, up & down Rt. 101 NH, and drove directly & immediately into the Staging Lanes at NED, at which point Three (3) "Hot Laps" were to be performed.
About half of the True Street participants....
On route there were several local fellow stangers who passed the stang train for a peek of the action....and one Grabber Blue Stang easily had caught my eye....thus a "Thumbs Up"(two photos below)
After completing the three hot laps, data would be compiled by the track identifying Fastest ET, Most Consistent, Etc...for this True Street class.
