    Drag Race/On Track Insurance

SmokinStangs - Mustang Forum! The home of the SmokinStangs Laconia - Mustang Rally
Does anyone have any information on Drag Race Insurance.

I have heard you can buy Insurance that will cover you while you are on the track.

I want to start running my Fox, but I have spent way too much time and money on it to put it in the wall or get taken out by another car while going down the track.

For those that dont know, your personal auto insurance is not going to cover you if you crash on the track.

    I did find this place:

    http://aounderwriters.com/racecars.html

It says the following: your vehicle must be raced at an Insured and Sanctioned event....so not sure what that means...no test and tunes etc...?
1990 GT- 308, Twisted Wedge, TFS cam, Holley Systemax, V-1 S Trim 12 psi, Power Pipe, Meth Injection, 5 speed, 3.73s

    1984 T Top Coupe-Coyote 5.0 Project Car-"Her 5.0"

I don't know many details, but i've seen the topic of "track day insurance" or "DE insurance" (Driver's Education) come up a few times on some of the boards I am on by guys who track their cars regularly.

    From what I gather...it's EXPENSIVE

I just typed for like 20 minutes about this before I was advised that I cannot offer advice on this due to my job.

    Good luck with it all.

I am employed by two financial planners (one being my mother but we can't say this because I actually work for both firms. In work, she is the one of the bosses and at home she is Mom). If they worked strictly on the investment side then it wouldn't be an issue. Although they do not offer this type of insurance product, they work with risk management and advise on policies, coverage, etc.

While typing my post, I decided to speak with her about this type of situation with track insurance and waivers because it comes up often with many of the open track people. Any advice that I give, whether it be to a friend or not could be construed as advice from either of the firms. AKA I have to be careful about what I say or either of the firms could be held responsible. This is the field I am planning to work in so I would like to avoid any issues.

I would like to thank Mark for the thread though. It lead to some very interesting conversations yesterday.

They must be closed for the holiday so I will call tomorrow and report back my findings.

I am very curious to see what type of policy they are writing that will provide coverage both on the street and track.

Could have said I have heard of the following situations.......................

The above information is not to be considered advice or the official opinion of JMAC and his present, past and future employers...his aunts, cousins, grandparents, friends, classmates etc etc etc..

Please discuss the above scenarios with your insurance agents, financial planners and the like!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I am really intrigued as I know this issue very well and am curious as to the discussion that took place.????????
