    Crankcase Pressure....Bypass Valve Question

SmokinStangs - Mustang Forum! The home of the SmokinStangs Laconia - Mustang Rally
So this year my PCV Oil Sep is collecting far less oil than in the past years and I have a theory..?

My setup is PCV run through Oil Sep and a breather on each valve cover..(I know that setup can cause a debate about vacuum leaks etc-but that is not the point of my question)

Pic of setup..oil separator can be seen in top left corner

Only difference is this year I switched from the 6 inch K&N air filter that came with my Vortech kit years ago to a Widemouth UPR 9 inch filter..see pic

Is it possible the larger air filter is allowing the bypass valve to work more efficiently and decrease crankcase pressure...? which has decreased the amount of oil collected in the Sep..?

Sorry this is off topic, but in the picture I noticed you have what looks like Maximum Motorsports caster Camber plates and I was wondering if you had any hood clearence issues with your struts sitting up high. I had to cut holes on the undeside of the hood in order for my hood to shut correctly. Was just wondering if this was a common issue or just with my stang.

    Mark....noteworthy observation.

This is based under same driving conditions I would presume?

I have an aftermarket Harwood Hood so not sure if that makes a difference. I know that you can adjust the number of spacers on the CC plates so they fit under any hood though.

Not sure on that one Mark. A buddy of mine wrenches on a Nationwide car and he said they run a tube from valve cover to valve cover and place the breather in the middle of the tube so that the oil doesn't come out of the breather on the valve cover itself. He was looking at my setup and told me to set mine up that was. Especially if I start to do road race type events with it.
