New 1/4 mile time slip and finally a video

Went to the track last week to play around on street tires. It was hot as hell. I spun in 2nd everytime and had some wheel hop. I don't have wheel hop on the street. It's time to get these ET Drags ready. This was only my second track visit in this car.

I expected a 13, but not a high 13 and some low 14s. The MPH is up there though and the calculators I've tried put it around 385 FWHP and a mid 12 1/4 mile on a slick. All in all maybe it's not bad for the parts I have using a stock tune. The 60ft time is what hurt me and that's a result of my rusty driving skills. Still, I can't help but compare it to my hatch going 12.7 @ 107 with a stock engine from intake to pan, 4.10s, slicks and other little stuff. I need to make some passes on slicks and then compare I guess.

Setup is rebuilt stock internal 302, 80mm MAF, 75mm TB, Victor 5.0, ported high ports, 30# inj., B303, 1.6s, 3.73s, Tremec 5spd, 3120# with me in it and a bunch of other mods.

    Here's the slip.

Here's a video of a 14.0 pass. Our camera sucks and my wife's no videographer, sorry.

The next steps are to get more gear (4.10s probably) and a tune. Then back to the track to shoot for a high 11.

Thats cool, at least you have a good starting point, get some better 60's work on feeling the track and the car and youll be in good shape.

I've been enjoying driving it to work lately. Almost makes me not want to run it on slicks and risk breaking something. It's almost pointless trying with the street tires I'm on now though. I'm thinking I should be able to drop the 60' down to at least a 1.7/1.8 with the suspension as is. That will get me to a 12.7/12.8. Then it'll be gear and tune time. I'll have to switch to a 26" slick by then too.

Slicks are really not as "hard" on the drivetrain as one would think.

26x8.5x15 is where its at for slicks :)

I was thinking 26X10X15s. We'll see how it goes. I have a pretty steep 1st gear and I plan to work my launch RPMs up slowly. I need to get back out there and bolt in my harnesses.
