    Injector size

SmokinStangs - Mustang Forum! The home of the SmokinStangs Laconia - Mustang Rally
I'm going to upgrade my stock injectors to bigger ones. What size should I go to. Would 80lb be ok or is the too big????

What's your plans? 60lbers will more than handle your ported eaton setup or be sufficient for a twin screw setup.

Not sure you can ever go too big on an injector. I started with 96# injectors, have had to up my fuel pump (handled 1000HP), but still not maxxing out the injectors. Always better to err on the side of bigger when doing a fuel system. When was the last time someone said "this winter I'm looking at taking HP out of the car"? lol

Thanks Guys. I think I'm gonna go with 63# set from Lethal. I'm adding a 4lb lower pulley soon.

Matt....you may want to have them "Flow Tested." Marren offers this service. Call me anal, but I do this....as we all know so much is riding on fuel delivery.
    http://www.injector.com/faq.php

Why does Marren Fuel Injection flow test injectors at a controlled pulse-width instead of wide open (static)?
Manufacturers usually rate injectors by their static flow. A static flow test is done with an injector energized 100% of the time and is used to find out how much fuel can physically flow through an injector in a given time. This test will determine if the pintle or sealing mechanism of the injector was machined properly, but it does not indicate how an injector will cycle or control fuel under actual operating conditions. Marren Fuel Injection fires the injector at a 6 millisecond pulse when checking flow numbers because it tests both the mechanical and electrical functioning of an injector. To perform this test, the injector is flowed at a 6 millisecond pulse rate. The results are then compared to the data found in our injector performance database. This test will indicate any electrical problems that an injector may have as well as any machining errors that may be present. We consider a 6 millisecond controlled-pulse test to be more precise than the tests performed by the original manufacturer.

yea go with 60s...thats all you need unless you plan on going over 700rwhp.

flow testing imo is good also. Ive done it twice and both times 1 injector was reported as having a bad spray pattern on the initial test. who knows how long I was using it like that

yup...60 lbs will be fine for what you are doing, anything more is overkill unless you are goign to do the whipple thing down the road.

Are you upgrading the pump as well?? Might want to think about it if you are goign to have more flow capacity.

Can't wait to see what kinda #'s you get with the 4lb lower

Ian, I'm going to upgrade to a stage 2 FPDM. I dont have my Kenne Bell boost-a-pump turned up all the way either. I'm going to stay with the stock pumps for now. I think I'll be fine but we'll see. :) This will be the final stage of my engine mods.
