Of course, if you have a blown motor, it's probably because you've already invested a lot in intake stuff, headers, exhaust, cam, etc, etc. and if you built a mod motor instead of a 5.0 you would need to sell all of that cheap and buy new stuff more expensively, I would expect.

Very true. If you have any real money invested in the pushrod setup, there really isn't much point in changing. I was more refering to the guy that has a tired nonroller or a project he is just getting started on. So my next question is, should we discuss roller vs. nonroller on the pushrod setup? I put a nonroller in the '85, but it was because that's what I had and it was a budget build. It wasn't built for serious power. Maybe that is a discussion for another thread.

It's a discussion I'd love to see/hear, here or elsewhere!

What is the biggest cubic inch mod motor and what kind of NA hp do they make? My knowledge of mod motors is limited i have always been a pushrod guy.

I personally like the over-the-counter stroker kits that take the 4cam to 5.0. The kits have been out for over 15 years now, so most of the bugs are worked out of them. The forged bottom end kits are available for about $3k now and make great power with p&p'ed B or C heads and stage 2 Comp cams. Balance and oil control are keys to the bottom end on these mod strokers.
