A New Breed of Speed Returns to New Hampshire Motor Speedway

Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti debuts IndyCar's return to NHMS with some preview laps today.

With speeds of 200 miles per hour and close, wheel-to wheel racing, the IZOD IndyCar Series is returning to New Hampshire Motor Speedway officials announced today.
The race will be held on July 30 - 31, 2011.
"This is three year deal in the making," said Jerry Gappens executive vice president and general manager of the speedway. "As an Indiana native and a fan of open-wheeled racing, I strongly believe that the people of New Hampshire will embrace this 'new breed of speed' much like they do NASCAR."

That was very cool, I was on the other side of the track on the Hill watching!!

It didn't fair well the first few years they had it there, what has changed that people will come now?
Also, if I remember correctly, back when Indy raced there, the drivers hated this track because it was too short.
Good luck getting people there this time around, just means another weekend that there will be too much traffic on 93

The track has new owners whose other tracks run Indy races. Also, I think the US racing public is starting to pay much more attention to "international" racing like Indy, F1, Aussie V8 and WRC. Still way less than NASCAR, but it's growing. Just the fact that you can easily find races from each of those series on TV indicates that the popularity is growing.
I guess it remains to be seen, but I think it's a good move.

I think bringing back Indy cars is a good idea. Those are some great machines.

Because I'm bi-lingual and own in NH too!!!!
You do have to admit, Loudon os terrble to get out of with an event. There is no other way out except 93. They send you north out of the track to Tilton to get onto 93, you go south from the track to 393 to 93.

We will see how it goes in 2011. All I know is that the track was packed last weekend, especially all the campers.

It sure was packed, I was in 1 of the campers for 5 days !! What a blast as always !!
