You have the ci and hp levels already to run a 3" exhaust without any issues. You will not gain anything at low end possibly maby even loos some low end power. Top end you will definetly gain power your motor is moving alot of air and 3" will definetly help that. On the street you will probably not feel much of a difference, 3" is going to benefit mainly at the track and on the dyno. If you are looking for increase in dyno numbers then yes 3" will help probably 15 to 30 rwhp. Flowmaster also makes a complete 3" kit that has tail pipes, thats the kit i have and i like it alot!

True, I'm not really a track guy and the car has no cage but I would like a bigger RWHP and RWTQ number. I like to have the bragging rights down at the local shops and part of me is a HP junkie.

At my HP I'm thinking the 2.5" exhaust has to be hurting me. At what point is a larger exhaust system warrantied?

Jimmy LaRocca always told me that when you have alot of pressure (back pressure) in your exhaust system and I do (14 psi) that the motor has to work very hard to make that HP. If I decrease the pumping loss on the motor, this should increase HP and TQ and the motor won't have to work so hard.

    I APPRECIATE ANY COMMENTS
Since you put it that way Mike, I actually agree with you. Didn't realize you were seeing so much backpressure....should of mentioned that in the first post. I know a typical Procharged DR car sees vacuum at WOT, so clearly you will pick up power if you can eliminate some or all of that B/P. With that information, going to a larger exhaust is a no-brainer. I don't know about the mufflers though....I would do my homework on those to make sure they aren't giving you sales hype. I run the 6" round race series Magnaflows on mine....you may want to make sure what they are offering you flows as good as those....although I doubt it. You also have to take into account how much you may or may not want to piss off the neighbors in your pursuit of maximum exhaust flow.

    Steve,
Thanks for the input and I do have cfm numbers for the Flowpath mufflers but let me see if I can get some cfm numbers for todays most popular mufflers. Right now, I'm caught up in the RWHP and RWTQ numbers (can't seem to like what I have) and its killing me. if I can get this combo to make 800rwhp then I will have reached my goal and will call it quits.

FlowMaster 40 flows: 250cfm@20" of water
DynoMax: 315cfm@?????? (Tech guy wouldn't say)
    MAC FlowPath: 361cfm@25" of water
    Magnaflow (4x9x14) 468@20" of water
    Looking for Bassani
    Looking for Borla:

No you won't!!!! LMAO I think I said I was done when I hit 9's. Now it's low 9's and am making plans for the 8's. Now I say I'll stop when I hit my cage max (8.50), but somehow even that seems suspect. :)

14 psi of backpressure sounds pretty high for a near-stock car
