Official: 2010 Ford Mustang to debut in NASCAR
The Mustang comes to NASCAR! Despite being the most successful single nameplate brand in professional racing history, it hasn’t yet competed in NASCAR. Brian Wolfe, director of Ford North America Motorsports, announced that the Mustang will debut as part of NASCAR’s new car limited rollout in the 2010 Nationwide Series.
Wolfe said that Mustang has been talking with NASCAR for quite some time about being a part of the vision for a ‘muscle car’ rollout for the Nationwide Series. The participation of the Mustang is seen to be a way of differentiating the series from the Sprint Cup. Wolfe said that Mustang is seeking to extend its legacy to a new series reaching a huge and loyal audience. Mustang has dominated other forms of racing, including NHRA drag racing, Grand-Am Cup road racing, and Formula D drifting.
This should be very exciting news to us SmokinStangs Members.......
