Formal SVT Press Release

NMRA To Host Special SVT 20th Anniversary Shootout at Maryland Event

SVT was born to build high-performance Ford vehicleshttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png (http://www.lightningrodder.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1946345#) and the NMRA Keystone Automotive Ford Nationals will be celebrating SVT’s 20th anniversary by hosting a special SVT Shootout at Maryland International Raceway in Mechanicsville, MD the weekend of May 3-5, 2013. It’s only fitting that the #1 all-Ford Motorsport show in the U.S. plays host to this speed-infused celebration. SVT Shootout participants will join NMRA’s community of racers and carhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png (http://www.lightningrodder.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1946345#) show enthusiasts for one of the largest and baddest all-Ford events of the year. And as a bonus, certain SVT racing classes include a free secondary race class entry!

VMP Superchargers has stepped up once again to sponsor the Terminator/GT500 Shootout class that brings together some of the quickest Cobras and GT500s in the U.S. for a winner take all format at this special SVT event. Mingle with the hottest tuners and car builders for drag-strip fun and a Shootout to decide which model is better—Terminator or Shelby GT500 (http://motors.shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=shelby+gt500). Watch the internet forums come alive for a real-world slug fest. Each Terminator/GT500 Shootout participant will also receive a free entry into Saturday’s SVT Muscle True Street (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?toolid=10029&campid=CAMPAIGNID&customid=CUSTOMID&catId=267&type=2&ext=271149792713&item=271149792713) class (must fit True Street (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?toolid=10029&campid=CAMPAIGNID&customid=CUSTOMID&catId=267&type=2&ext=271149792713&item=271149792713) rules) for even more chances to win.

The SVT Lightning truckhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png (http://www.lightningrodder.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1946345#) community is one of the most exciting SVT brands as evident by the sheer number of truckshttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png (http://www.lightningrodder.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1946345#) still being modified and turned into drag strip haulers. If you are a Lightning enthusiast then you won’t want to miss this event. The biggest Lightning shops, including Johnny Lightning (http://motors.shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=johnny+lightning) Performance, will be hitting the strip with 8-second performances. Lightning racers are invited to join the popular Truck & Lightning category or the SVT Lightning True Street (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?toolid=10029&campid=CAMPAIGNID&customid=CUSTOMID&catId=267&type=2&ext=271149792713&item=271149792713) segment to do battle exclusively against other Lightnings for cash and prizes. Racers in SVT Lightning True Street (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?toolid=10029&campid=CAMPAIGNID&customid=CUSTOMID&catId=267&type=2&ext=271149792713&item=271149792713) will receive a free entry into Sunday’s SVT Index Rumble class.

TREMEC True Street (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?toolid=10029&campid=CAMPAIGNID&customid=CUSTOMID&catId=267&type=2&ext=271149792713&item=271149792713), presented by Muscle Mustangs (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?toolid=10029&campid=CAMPAIGNID&customid=CUSTOMID&catId=267&type=2&ext=140909281485&item=140909281485) & Fast Fords, is always one of the largest classes run on Saturday at each NMRA event. There will be a separate SVT Muscle True Street class (’93 to ’13 SVT cars only) and a SVT Lightning True Street class (’93 to ‘95 and ‘99 to ‘04 Lightning trucks only), each with its own cash and prizes…exclusively for SVT racers! SVT Muscle and Lightning True Street racers will make 3 consecutive passes down the Ľ mile and $250 + 6’ trophy will be awarded to the overall fastest car and truck, and $100 + plaque will be awarded to each car and truck racer with the closest average to 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15 seconds! SVT Muscle and Lightning True Street racers will receive a free entry into Sunday’s SVT Index Rumble class.

If showing your car or truck is more your stylehttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png (http://www.lightningrodder.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1946345#) then look no further than the UPR Products All-Ford Auto Show with over 100 awards given away at this event. Show off your ride for a chance to get featured in 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords, Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords, or NMRA’s own Race Pages magazine. There will be special SVT-only auto show classes and awards…so come out with your ride for a chance to bring some home!

I think there will be a fair amount of SmokinStangs members going...including myself.

If your confirmed as going, please let me know as I'd like to get a list going.

Also let me know what your taking, as well as what you plan to do!! Which class of Drag Racing...to include True Street participants, Car Show, Spectate only, Etc...

If your looking to catch the attention of the mags, and/or the online (Digital Media) Mustang connoisseurs, this is going to be the perfect place & the perfect platform.
I'm still standing by my original statement from when this 2013 MIR event was posted here---->This event IMO will be a BIGGIE this year!!:vhappy:

AS WRITTEN & SOURCED VIA THE NMRA:

Check out the awesome turbocharged engine of New Hampshire’s Jeff Taylor (SmokinStangs Member - 5.4 notch).

The True Street competitor’s 5.4L bullet was assembled by Kevin at Karl’s East Coast Speed in Rhode Island and features Manley billet connecting rods and a set of Fox Lake-ported heads on top. Motivation comes from a 76/75 turbo and so far the car has been 8.63 at 163 MPH. So far, Jeff’s only made six passes on the car in its current configuration, and he’s looking for 8.40′s or so once he’s sorted everything out. Right now he’s working to figure out how to work the suspension on the the starting line using the Mickey Thompson Drag Radial tires. This is a real street car that is driven regularly to cruise nights in his area – and he’s going to be a player in True Street this weekend. Perhaps our champion?

Jake Conant (SmokinStangs Member - BAD03COBRA) was last years overall winner of MIR's VMP Terminator vs GT500 Shootout. Jake has been plugging away on his 03 Cobra, in his continual quest to improve. Jake has made some recent & serious chassis changes...among other engine improvements/fixes, and still getting a grip on the changes. Knowing Jake...we are confident that he will work the kinks out, and have this SMOKIN TERMI running "Straight as an Arrow" with newly improved overall ET's.

2013 / 2nd annual VMP Terminator vs GT500 Shootout held @ MIR. This is the final round

Jake may have not won 1st this year...but Jake certainly continues to re-write the pages of his continued personal success with his drag racing efforts.
